In Europe, France has gone top of the Six Nations table while Georgia has consolidated its first position on the Rugby Europe championship log. But first, Six Nations: France went to the top after a convincing round two win over a persistent Italy (35-22).
On Saturday, Ireland beat Wales (24-14) and Scotland failed to put away the whingers (6-13). You can find match reports in the usual places but this week we’re featuring a convict source. Make of that what you will.
Meanwhile, across in the Rugby Europe competition, Belgium thumped Russia (38-12) and Portugal triumphed over Romania (22-11) on Saturday. The Sunday fixture saw Georgia travel travel to Madrid and come away with the spoils (10-23).

In related news, these results have seen Georgia pass Italy in the World Rugby rankings, which will likely fuel renewed calls for promotion-relegation between the two competitions. In addition, Netherlands will be wanting to be included in Rugby Europe next year given that it is now ranked above both Russia and Belgium.
This weekend’s Six Nations Saturday fixtures will see Italy host Scotland and Wales welcome France while the Sunday encounter will see the whingers tackle the Irish. In Rugby Europe, all matches are on Saturday with Romania vs Spain, Russia vs Portugal and Georgia vs Belgium.
